After the brutal killing of a Black man in George Floyd, a huge riot raised demanding justice. It is high time now to stop racism. For centuries over centuries, people have been killed based on color, ethnicity, caste, and creed. After this brutal death, people have had enough. A protest was started to demand justice for the loss of innocent life, which turned into the movement, “Black lives matter.”
People around the globe are taking part in this protest. Some of them are playing an active role by going on the streets, while others shared their views on social media. Along with people, many famous brands also joined hands in this movement. Some of them changed their iconic logos; others uploaded black pictures to show solidarity with the cause. Netflix wrote on their Twitter account, “To be silent is to be complicit. Black lives matter. We have a platform, and we have a duty to our Black members, employees, creators, and talent to speak up.” Apple Music, Hulu, and Fox also shared their views and supported “Blackout Tuesday” to raise awareness. Nike made a one-minute advert with the famous slogan, “For once, don’t do it.” Their advert starts with, “Don’t pretend there is no problem in American, that there is no racism….” Some of the fashion brands gave millions of dollars to the organizations that are supporting and helping minorities and black people. Brands are doing all they can within their capacity to support this Nobel cause. Let’s join hands and hope that the killing of innocents stops.
